In this section of the route, we enter the Abantos-Romeral Sur colony, a neighbourhood integrated into the forest landscape of Mount Abantos. Its layout and buildings preserve the memory of the first summer houses built in the area, designed as places of relaxation for families from Madrid seeking peace, nature, and fresh air near San Lorenzo de El Escorial.
The Horizontal allows for an understanding of how residential growth in the early 20th century was linked to the natural environment of Abantos, forming a unique transition between the urban core, the replanted forest and the historical mountain paths.
